What is yoga

The classical techniques of Yoga date back more than 5,000 years. In ancient times, the desire for greater personal freedom, health and long life gave birth to this system of physical and mental exercise which has since spread throughout the world. The word Yoga means “to join or yoke together,” and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience. Yoga is a science of body, mind and consciousness. Yoga is wisdom and knowledge which has been transmitted to mankind from the great Yogis and Rishis of ancient times, though its geographical origin lies in India, it is universal, all-valid, eternal knowledge.

To achieve this union, this harmony, this balance an integral approch of the yogas is adopted by our teachers. Often we understand yoga as being a serie of physical exercises with maybe a few breathing practices but yoga is a much wider science and our teachers are happy to share with you the wisdom of this ancient science.
